Here is a photo of me from 2009.

I just had my second child and I had a constant backache.

I mean look at me... I am totally hunched over a crying baby

Most of you know me as the regular old Yoga teacher, but —I’ve had my fair share of back woes. See this picture: I used to resemble a lowercase “n” when I was a new mom and breastfeeding my babies. My spine was on a permanent vacation, and my shoulders could have won a shrug contest.

But fear not, my fellow slouchers—I’ve emerged from the depths of bad posture, and I’m here to share my journey with you and offer tips that got me straightened out.

The Backstory (Pun Intended)

My relationship with back pain actually began during my High School days when I carried around my backpack for hours on end filled to the brim with textbooks, papers, and endless folders. This continued into my 20’s and got much worse when I started backpacking through Europe, taking extended hiking and camping trips on the East coast where I would carry 40 - 50 pounds on my back.  After having my children, and breast feeding - what felt like 24 hours a day--- the shoulder scrunching took its ultimate toll. My spine rebelled, staging a protest against my poor posture. It was time for a change.

Enter yoga—the magical elixir that transformed my slouch into a salute.

After my children were born---- I started Yoga, physical therapy, and the process of healing. I committed to a regular yoga practice and that healed my back after 15 years of pain!

Whether we are new mothers, busy professionals, or simply individuals navigating our daily routines, it is common for us to hunch our backs, slouch, and experience back pain.

I am planning an intimate workshop called, "Un-Hunch Your Back: A Yoga Workshop for Standing Tall and Banishing the Slouch"

It will be a 1.5 hour filled upper back and shoulder work. Some of it is passive postures, some of it is active poses. Some of it is getting to the root cause of WHY we end up slouching. If this speaks to you and you find yourself hunched, please book an Un-Hunch session below!
